What do you think of media regulation?

What should we do to make the media more fair? Should we make the media more fair? Should we let the government control our media?
What about the first Amendment? Please, I need this from both viewpoints.

we should let the market decide what the market wants to listen to or watch. By cosless.com
if a liberal can make it on talk radio (as air america tired to do), they should be allowed to do so. conservative talk radio people should not be punished for doing something well or for making money at it, just because “the other side” cannot.
if a conservative can make it on network television, they should be allowed to do so. liberal network TV people should not be punished for doing their jobs well, or making money at it.
the gov’t should not get involved. there is nothing in the constitution that suggests gov’t has any authority to decide “fairness” or control speech in any form (be it on the radio waves, the tv channels, or the internet).
the public owns the roads that are used to deliver your local newspaper, and if the gov’t tried to tell your local paper what they could and could not say….there would be first amendment hell to pay.
why should the fact that the public owns the airwaves that are used to deliver your local radio stations somehow allow the gov’t to tell those radio stations what they can and cannot broadcast.
it is the opinion of some that the freedom of speech and freedom of the press only apply to the non-amplified non-broadcast speech and the printed word on tangible paper.
if the internet, radio, and TV had existed when our constitution was written, those forms of communication would have had the same protections speech and the press have.
